Zones

Zone is a named space, for isolating profiler agents and UIs. You can think of the zone as a protected room, that needs a key (access token) to get into. Zone isolation means that profiler UI connected to one zone will not be able to connect to an agent in another zone.

Zones are plain, not hierarchical, and they cannot contain each other. You can create as many zones as you want, and create any number of access tokens for each zone.

Region

An important property of a zone is the geographic region in which it is located. When creating a zone, you must specify the region where the YourKit Connection Broker proxy servers will be located. Try to choose regions that are closest to your applications. Keep in mind that once a zone is created, the region cannot be changed.

Ownership

The user who created the zone is its owner. The owner has full control over the zone. They can create access tokens for the zone, delete the zone, and also invite other users to their zone for collaborative work as collaborators.

Collaborators

The Collaborators section displays the list of collaborators, i.e. users who have access to the zone and applications running within the zone.

Collaborators

Inviting a collaborator

  1. Ask for the email of the person you're inviting as a collaborator.
  2. Click Add collaborator button in the top right corner of Collaborators section, and enter the collaborator's email.
  3. Click Invite button.
  4. The user will receive an invitation email from YourKit. Once they accept your invitation, they will be added as a collaborator to the zone.

Removing a collaborator

After removal, a collaborator will not be able to create new tokens or see the list of applications within the zone, but they will be able to use existing tokens to connect to applications.

Important: You may need to change all access tokens to prevent unauthorized access to applications.

  1. Click on the row with the collaborator's name to open additional actions.
  2. In the expanded row, click the Remove button.
  3. Confirm the removal in the pop-up window.
