yourkit-java-profiler no longer available through homebrew

Post by bcalmac »

I use Homebrew to install and upgrade YourKit on my Mac. I appreciate the convenience of a command line utility that can be automated.

However, they ran into download issues with the latest 2020 version and after they couldn't get it to work the yourkit-java-profiler formula has been removed from Homebrew. Can you address the issue on your side so that maybe it can be added back?

This is the Homebrew discussion: https://github.com/Homebrew/homebrew-cask/pull/87007

Thank you.

Hi,

Could you please explain the problem.

Do they need a persistent link to the full profiler installation?

For older versions it can be taken from https://www.yourkit.com/download/archive.jsp

For the current version (2020.9 at the moment) there is no persistent link. Each time a new build is released the download page https://www.yourkit.com/download/ is updated with new references. There is no persistent link as an URL but I believe that the download page can be easily parsed to retrieve the current URL.

I see that Vladimir got involved in the conversation on GitHub. The issue seems to be about rate limiting for downloads.
