EAP 612: snapshot names

Post by mschulz »

previously, the default names for snapshots were appropriately named
using a date string. Now I get 'Tomcat.memory'.
Now that's distinctive

Hi,

If it was Tomcat-<DATE>-<possibly running number>.memory, would it be OK for you?

Best regards,
Anton

I guess 'Tomcat' is distinctive in that the agent detects that it is running under Tomcat. Hmmh.

A date is fine with me - but that smells of good organization and not
all people like.

Since the UI remembers the last prefix the user enters...
why not offer a good default initially - the dialog requires blind trust
for the first time its used.

The other thing where the user has to 'trust' yjp is the running process,
since yjp detects (for Compare Snapshot) the process, which is good.
However it could also be made visible to the user via the file name.

Please try the latest build 614. It's interesting to hear whether you find its naming convention suitable or not.
